Energy and Environment Forum

Please join us for a conversation about Energy and the Environment of the Eastside on Thursday, January 22 at Foster Community Center, Room 211, at 6:30 pm. This forum, co-hosted by Allen Neighborhood Center and the Eastside Neighborhood Organization, is the fourth in a series of conversations about key issues that will eventually be addressed in the City of Lansing Master Planning Process. Participation in the January 22 forum will help prepare you for further involvement in Master Planning sessions hosted by the City and JJR Consulting, the group hired by the City to facilitate the development of the new Master Plan this year.

Our facilitator for the January 22 discussion regarding Energy and the Environment is Vince Delgado, known to many of you know as a former neighbor, reporter, and Director of the Refugee Development Center. A trained facilitator, Vince currently works with the MSU Residential College on civic engagement.

To provide helpful background information about this topic, we have attached a brief Issue Paper (DOC) developed at our request by Rick Kibbey. Rick is an urban planner who lived for decades in the neighborhood, and has studied the Eastside for thirty years. Reading his issue paper on Energy and the Environment will change the way you think about our neighborhood. Rick has also prepared issue papers for our previous forums:

This is the first time in decades that the City is doing a Comprehensive Master Plan, which means that Eastside stakeholders have a huge opportunity over the next year to help craft the future of our neighborhood. This is the time to think about what it is that we want to retain, what we would like to change, and in what way. Please do join us for the session on this topic on January 22, and for future sessions as well. Please don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you for your interest!
