Amid public debate around the development effort along Michigan Avenue, a group of MSU students have created a cutting-edge communication tool to help build community consensus. The Web site will be unveiled to the public this Wednesday. Student Web designers built www.ourmichiganave.org to bring together local businesses, residents and community groups. This is a space for the community to craft a vision for the future of Michigan Avenue.
This site has a space for sharing ideas and voting on initiatives; community asset mapping; communication forums focused on regional news and events; photos and image sharing related to the corridor; business profiles and community member stories; and newsfeeds from local news groups. We are using advanced Web technologies to create a sophisticated social media site specifically for Michigan Avenue Corridor.
Please join us for the public debut. We will have student Web designers, urban design professionals and community stakeholders on hand to answer questions.
