GardenHouse Plant Sale Event
Saturday, May 30, 10am – 2pm, at the GardenHouse
We have what you need to get gardening this spring! Come check out our wide selection of veggie, herb, and flower starts, all sustainably-grown from seed in the GardenHouse!, as well as our raised garden box kits, season extension kits, seed packets, garden soil mix bags, and more!
Plants available include: multiple tomato, pepper, eggplant, kale, collards, Swiss chard, onion, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, basil, parsley, rosemary, sage, marigold, nasturtium, snapdragon, statice, zinnia, and a selection of perennials, and more!
We accept cash, checks, and SNAP (for veggie & herb plants).
We’re also celebrating the GardenHouse’s 7th birthday with beet cupcakes, live music (Deacon Earl), and garden tours, as well as being a passport stop for the Be a Tourist in Your Own Town event!

Food Preservation Series

Learn the art of food preservation! You can sign up for the whole 4-session series or for individual session. Sign up in advance and pay $35 (save $5) or pay as you go ($10 per session). Part 1: Intro to Food Preservation
Thursday, July 30, 6:00pm – 7:30pm, $10 registration
Put those veggies, fruits, and herbs to good use! Learn different preservation techniques to get the most from
your garden & bountiful growing season. Workshop led by plant-based nutrition educator, Dianne Moore.

Part 2: Freezing & Drying
Thursday, August 6, 6:00pm – 7:30pm, $10 registration
Learn the methods & equipment needed for effective freezing & drying of herbs & produce. Participants will
have samples & recipes to take home. Workshop led by plant-based nutrition educator, Dianne Moore.

Part 3: Water Bath Canning
Thursday, August 13, 6:00pm – 7:30pm, $10 registration
Learn canning basics as well as the full range of products that can be safely water-bath preserved in this
hands-on workshop. Workshop led by Johnny Bolan, local food preservation hero.

Part 4: Fermentation
Thursday, August 20, 6:00pm – 7:00pm, $10 registration
Learn the art of food preservation via fermentation in this hands-on workshop. Attendees will make their own
jars of sauerkraut to bring home. We will provide all the basic ingredients, but feel free to bring spicy peppers,
carrots, or any other crunchy veggies you might want to include. Workshop led by Alex Bryan of the Greater
Lansing Food Bank’s Garden Project.
